| There are many special events in the Fig Tree Pocket educational
calendar that complement the curriculum.
Student Council Events
The Year 7 Student Council is a very active group that initiates school fundraisers and encourages the school community to support worthy causes. In early 2009, the Student Council raised over $5000 for the Victorian bushfire appeal. It was a wonderful community effort, led by the students to suppport a very tragic event.
A fundraiser for Youngcare was another initiative last year which resulted in the school community raising money to buy a new fridge for accommodation for young people with disabilities.
CoTA - Celebration of the Arts
Each year, we hold a special celebration. Last year, Celebration of The Arts was a major activity where students, teachers and parents celebrated the creativity and learning of our students. A great deal of planning and learning culminated in a special rts celebration evening. It as an outstanding success. In 2009, a fete is our special event.
Medieval
Day
Our Year six students had an amazing day when
they re-enacted a day from Medieval times. There were jesters,
a feast, knights and lots of amazing costumes. Parents helped out to cook a sumptuous feast.
Grandparent's Day
In term 1, year one students host a Grandparents Day. A great deal of work went into planning food and performances. Grandparents were shown student work, taken on a school tour and treated to an afternoon tea and concert.
Excursions and Camps
Excursions are an integral part of the curriculum
offered at Fig Tree Pocket while for year 5-7 students, camps offer a significant experience in the school year.
